Lab Analysis
From the beginning, rigorous testing and uncompromising quality have been central to who we are.
Every batch we produce is independently tested to verify its identity, purity, potency, and safety. We invest far beyond the minimum required because we believe trust should be earned through transparency, not marketing claims.
While others may rely on limited testing or broad supplier documentation, we evaluate each batch individually and make the results accessible so our customers can see exactly what they are receiving.
This commitment to accountability has set Black Lotus apart from the start. We do not simply aim to meet industry standards. We hold ourselves to a higher one.
Every batch of Black Lotus Shilajit is tested by an independent lab in the USA.
Unfortunately our favorite lab, IAS Laboratories, in Phoenix, AZ closed down due to a fire and we are now testing with other labs.
Every. Single. Batch.
What we test for:
Fulvic & Humic Acid
These rare antioxidants are what make Shilajit so unique & powerful.
Moisture
Watered down Shilajit, is simply not as effective. Many companies have this practice, giving you less of the benefits per dose. We make sure you get the most Shilajit per gram.
Bacteria, Mold & Yeast
This makes sure there is no chance of our Shilajit going bad and that it has been handled safely.
Heavy Metals
Testing for metals assures us it was stored & sourced properly. Since Shilajit is a raw product coming from the Earth, there is always a chance for contamination. We make sure that it is safe for ourselves, our families, and all of our customers.
Physical Properties
Does it dissolve fully in water? Does it have any sediment or particulates? Is it watered down? Does it smell/taste "normal"? Is it pitch black?
These are all the questions we answer before we send it for testing.

Guaranteed.

Our Approach to Modern Shilajit Testing
At Black Lotus, our commitment has always been to transparency, scientific integrity, and providing the highest quality shilajit possible. As our understanding of shilajit has evolved, so has the way we evaluate it.
For many years, the shilajit industry relied heavily on fulvic and humic acid percentages as primary indicators of quality. While these compounds are naturally present in authentic shilajit, we now recognize that these numbers tell only part of the story.
One of the biggest challenges is that there is no universally accepted analytical method for measuring fulvic and humic acids in shilajit. Different laboratories use different extraction, purification, and analytical procedures, and the same sample can produce significantly different results depending on the method used. Because these methods measure different fractions of a highly complex natural material, comparing percentages between laboratories or brands can be misleading and does not necessarily reflect differences in quality, potency, or effectiveness.
More importantly, ongoing research and years of experience have reinforced what many scientists and traditional practitioners have long understood: shilajit is far more than a single percentage of fulvic or humic acid. It is an exceptionally complex natural substance containing hundreds of naturally occurring organic compounds, minerals, and bioactive constituents that work together as a whole. Reducing its quality to one laboratory value oversimplifies a remarkably complex material.
As our sourcing and manufacturing processes have matured, we have achieved a level of consistency that gives us confidence in the authenticity and composition of every batch we produce. Rather than continuing to emphasize laboratory values that can vary substantially based on the analytical method used, we have chosen to focus our testing program on the factors that have the greatest impact on quality, safety, and consistency.
Today, every production batch is evaluated through a comprehensive quality assurance program that prioritizes what matters most:
• Verification of identity and authenticity.
• Certified testing for heavy metals to ensure safety.
• Comprehensive microbiological testing for harmful contaminants.
• Moisture and stability testing to help preserve freshness and quality.
• Strict quality control throughout sourcing, purification, and packaging.
These tests provide meaningful, objective information about the purity, safety, and consistency of our shilajit while ensuring that every batch meets the standards we have established for ourselves.
Our goal has never been to advertise the highest number on a label. Our goal is to provide authentic shilajit with complete transparency and rigorous quality control. As the science continues to evolve, we will continue to refine our testing program to reflect the best available understanding of this extraordinary natural substance.
We believe that true quality is demonstrated not by a single percentage, but by a comprehensive commitment to authenticity, purity, safety, and consistency. That commitment remains at the core of everything we do.
